Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most often — about how we work, what things cost, how long it takes and what happens after installation.

Getting Started

Our focus is commercial — hotels, restaurants, resorts, shopping precincts, corporate campuses and event venues. We do take some high-end residential estate projects where the brief and scale are similar to commercial work, but we're not a general residential lighting company. If you're unsure whether your project fits, call us and we'll tell you honestly.

The site visit is free with no obligation. We'll walk the space with you, ask questions about how it's used and what atmosphere you're after, and assess the trees, structures and power supply. We typically visit at the time of day (or night) that best reflects the lighting conditions. You'll receive a full written proposal within a week of the visit.

A single-tree uplighting installation can be done in a few hours. A full hospitality venue package covering festoon, uplighting and fairy lights across multiple spaces typically takes two to five working days, spread across sessions that work around your operating schedule. We always give you a specific timeframe in the proposal, not a vague estimate.

Yes — we work across South East Queensland including the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley and the broader Brisbane metro area. For larger projects, we've travelled as far north as the Whitsundays and as far south as northern NSW. Distance doesn't affect pricing as significantly as project complexity.

What Things Cost

Fixed-price quotes. Every proposal we issue includes a locked scope — fixture types, quantities, cable routes and labour. If something changes during installation that we couldn't reasonably have anticipated, we discuss it with you before varying the price. We don't issue open-ended estimates and then add charges at the end of the job.

We can give a rough range if you share photos and dimensions, but we prefer not to — ballpark prices on lighting jobs have a way of anchoring expectations that the actual site doesn't support. A brief call followed by a site visit gives both of us a more useful starting point. The visit is free and we won't pressure you into anything.

Standard terms are a deposit on acceptance of the proposal, with the balance due on practical completion. For larger projects we stage payments across milestones. We issue formal tax invoices and accept bank transfer. Specific terms are outlined in every proposal.

How It Works

We use arborist-safe installation methods on every project. For uplights, we identify root exclusion zones before trenching and route cables to avoid primary structural roots. Where trenching isn't possible near sensitive root zones, we use surface conduit protected with decorative mulch or ground cover. We've never had a tree health complaint following installation.

Yes. All electrical work is performed by our licensed electricians and certified to AS/NZS 3000 on completion. You receive a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) with every installation. For commercial projects that require it, we can also supply photometric output data and formal documentation packages for council or body corporate submissions.

We only specify fixtures with appropriate IP ratings for their environment — IP67 for ground-mounted fittings, IP65 as a minimum for all other exposed outdoor luminaires. All cabling and enclosures are rated for continuous outdoor exposure in Queensland's UV and humidity conditions. Festoon catenary systems are engineered to AS/NZS wind load requirements for the relevant locality.

Yes — we offer DALI-compatible and smart-control-ready systems that integrate with most building management platforms or operate via a standalone app. For simpler installations, programmable timers and dusk-to-dawn sensors are included as standard. Control options are discussed during the design phase and specified in the proposal.

After Installation

Annual maintenance visits cover lamp and globe replacement, fixture re-aiming (trees grow and beam angles drift), cable and connection inspections, control system checks and a post-storm assessment if severe weather has occurred since the last visit. Venues on maintenance plans get priority scheduling for callouts.

For venues on a maintenance plan, we respond to fault callouts within two business days as standard, and same-day for critical faults at venues with priority agreements. For installations not on a plan, we offer callout services at standard hourly rates. Most commercial-grade fixtures we install carry a minimum three-year manufacturer warranty.

Yes. For venues that close seasonally or have periods where outdoor lighting isn't needed, we offer planned removal and reinstallation on an annual schedule. This is most common with fairy light systems in wedding gardens and resort properties with seasonal closure periods. The service is priced in the original proposal if it's part of your requirements.
